Position – Role Required

IMS Giotto is looking for a Firmware Designer to join the design department (R&D).

Job description

  • Design and development of application firmware on embedded architectures;

  • Development of software for prototype devices and testing equipment;

  • Definition and drafting of testing instructions and procedures.

Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in relevant roles;

  • Real-time firmware programming for embedded boards using assembler/C/C++, including under Linux OS;

  • Knowledge of communication buses: I2C, SPI, EIA232, EIA422, EIA485, CAN, Ethernet;

  • Use of lab instruments: multimeters, digital oscilloscopes, function generators, programmable power supplies, dataloggers, CAN network monitors.

Professional Skills

  • Understanding of CANopen, ModBus, and TCP/IP protocols;

  • Programming of microcontrollers: PIC 16 and PIC 18F series, Coldfire MCF52xx, STM32;

  • Basic skills in programming LabVIEW applications for configuration and testing tools;

  • Basic skills in PLC programming (IEC 61131-3 languages: Ladder or others) for testing tools;

  • Basic knowledge of Visual Basic programming;

  • Use of lab equipment: soldering/desoldering tools, crimping tools for power and signal connectors;

  • Ability to interpret electrical/electronic schematics, datasheets of electronic components, sensors and actuators; interpretation of mechanical drawings;

  • Previous experience in the medical equipment sector.

Language Skills

  • Written English: Full understanding of technical documentation related to electrical/electronic/mechanical components and laboratory instruments;

  • Spoken English: Ability to obtain and provide technical information, including via telephone conversations.
